Galoo Celebrates full patent approval for online bargaining

Galoo, the newly-established “pay what you want buyer’s marketplace” a new, fun and excitinge-commerce social shopping hub which brings the art of negotiation online, has finally secured full patent approval from United States Patent Office with the rights of international extension.

The patent will help to set new precedents in how people negotiate and buy products and services at the price they want to pay in the online environment, bringing affordable purchases to the global masses, wherever they reside.

Galoo Executive runs for social resposibility

Galoo executive Graham Broomfield is facing the challenge of a lifetime as he gears up to run the London Marathon.

Graham, 36, is usually seen crunching numbers and putting together marketing campaigns behind a desk on his computer, on the telephone or in meetings, but on April 22nd he will be donning his shorts and running 26.2 miles / 42.16 Kilometres to raise money for the St John Ambulance Charity.

"I've never even run for a bus before," says Graham. Now I'm getting up every day at 6 a.m. to go for a run before I start work. And I've had to knock the Chicken Madras Curry’s on the head. I must be mad!"

The hard work will all be worthwhile for Graham if he succeeds in raising £2,000 for The St John Ambulance. “People choke to death or suffocate or die from bleeding, thousands of lives are lost needlessly because nobody knew what to do, how to help them, how to save them. This is what first aid does, that’s why St John Ambulance teaches first aid and why volunteers practise it, they are the difference between a life lost and a life saved”.

"The St John Ambulance are the unsung heroes, helping save lives every day they have done so much for us, now it's time I did something for them."

Graham is hoping the global community will support him in his marathon challenge.

"My friends, family and local businesses have been very supportive and generous and I hope other people will sponsor me if they can," said Graham. "Even a few pounds will make a huge difference and mean the St John Ambulance Charity can continue their invaluable work supporting families."

Calling all creative artists, animators and video enthusiasts, freelancers, design agencies and organisations worldwide, you are invited to submit entries to the Galoo 2012 video contest, with cash awards and prizes for the top entries. The best videos will be shared and shown on our facebook and youtube pages where hundreds of thousands of galoo fans will be able to vote for the people’s choice winner (cash prize €500), the first place winner overall selected by our distinguished panel will receive €1,000.

ROYAL COUPLE ATTEND E-COMMERCE AWARD CEREMONY IN ATHENS

Athens, 23 December 2011. Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine attended an e-commerce award ceremony in Athens where their daughter Alison Andrews won an e-commerce award for Galoo.com that she created.

Galoo.com is a two month old company that was among a large number of distinguished established ecommerce companies receiving the award. Galoo is a disruptive e-commerce concept. It brings the art of negotiation to online trade and shopping.

The ceremony took place on Monday 19 December and was undertaken by the Economic University of Athens (Laboratory of e-commerce) in cooperation with Boussias Communications organized and presented companies in Greece with the e-volution 2012 awards. The actual ceremony took place at the Onassis Art and Culture building. Among the winners were Eurobank EFG for the security of Payments on the Internet, Plaisio Computers for the Combination of the virtual and the natural world, Winbank from Piraeus Bank for User experience , and Galoo.com for evolutionary business model on e-commerce. The Jury for the awards consisted of University Professors from Athens University, and e-commerce specialists in Greece.

 

When asked for one of the reasons she created Galoo, Alison Andrews said “I wanted to help facilitate trade and shopping at a savings in Serbia. I see my parents work so hard to create jobs, business and trade for Serbia that I thought there must be a way to initiate an e-commerce solution to assist in addressing this. Galoo is changing the way people shop and assisting sellers in supplying their products and services”.

On receiving the award, Alison thanked her parents, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine who were present, for their insight, support and belief in her which contributed to the success. Galoo.com is in beta stage currently as it entertains bringing in investors to take it to the next step.

How does this new e-commerce concept work?

Upon entering Galoo you just name the product or service that you need to buy, check the prices through our price-checking mechanism and request to beat the price by making an offer. You can then accept the offer of the first seller that responds to your offer if you wish to do so. Or you can negotiate the price with the seller, saving yourself from the embarrassment you otherwise feel when negotiating a price in a conventional shop or service location. “As just recently reported in a major newspaper, research by an online shopping company shows that three quarters of us are too shy to haggle for a better price in the UK alone; Galoo takes that shyness away. All transactions are discreet and the price is only known between the buyer and seller which protects pricing for the seller as well. In the end, we take uncertainty and hesitation out of the equation. This is bargain hunting and selling at its finest,” says co-founder Manos Ioannidis.

“For instance, let’s say that you look for teeth whitening and you’re willing to pay 100 euro. Galoo sends an email with your offer to all registered Galoo dentists in the vicinity you request. Once you get a positive response from a dentist, you enter the virtual deal room, finalize with the medical professional and just let yourself enjoy the service you want at the price you are willing to pay. Of course this can apply to any service like car repair, hotels, restaurants, cruises, beauty salons, transportation, and of course all the products and services that you can imagine. ”

The seller registering at Galoo can immediately increase the sales volume, by accessing a much wider clientele without additional marketing or outside salespeople. Galoo literally brings the buyer to your virtual doorstep. Therefore, the seller can actually sell a product in a lower than the permitted advertising price, or can eliminate a preordered stock surplus. Service providers can fill an empty opening or seat by accepting a lower price from the buyer. The important thing about Galoo for the sellers is that only the seller and the buyer actually know at what price a product or a service was finally purchased from that specific seller. 

Galoo savings calculator has also a philanthropic twist about it. It calculates your savings and gives you the chance to donate some of the money you saved, directly to the registered charity organization of your preference.
